Removing the Enemy’s Shield: A Look at Caleb

We are in a war season. One only has to follow the news in Israel and at home to know this. The battle is in heavenly and earthly realms, where our decrees fuel angelic activity and effect the outcomes on earth. In the arena of child sex trafficking, we’ve been praying for the exposure of evil coming through perpetrators, traffickers, buyers, and leaders fueling this financially or otherwise. All must be exposed for all of it to be removed.

Since we are on the winning team, we need not fear the shaking now upon us. Caleb knew this. He had forty years in the desert observing God’s provision and relationship with Moses. Caleb chose to trust what he’d experienced—water from a rock, clothes not wearing out, manna from heaven every day. He may have fought in the battle against the Amalekites, where every time Moses’s arms were lifted up, the Israelite fighters had the advantage in battle (Exodus 17:8-16). In the end, Moses chose Caleb to be a part of a scouting party to spy out the promised land, the land of Canaan. Caleb came back with a good report, ready to go up and take out those giant enemies of God. He and his buddy Joshua had this to say:

“The land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.” Then speaking to the naysayers, they continued, “Only do not rebel against the Lord, and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.” (Numbers 14:7, 9)

Caleb was ready to go take possession of the promised land when Moses was in leadership, and then again forty-five years later at eighty-five under Joshua’s leadership. He’d been promised by Moses the land he’d put his feet on at Hebron and to Joshua he said, “Give me this mountain” (Joshua 14:12). Not an easy task with fortified cities and Anakite giants, but Caleb was as strong as he was at forty, and more important, his trust in God had not wavered.

Notice also the use of this phrase “they will be our prey” or “bread.” God had provided every need for his wandering nation in the wilderness, including “bread.” His mercy in the form of manna appeared every morning. Like the dew, six days a week manna appeared, but they had to go gather it. Now, God was supplying them with victory if they took the steps of obedience. Caleb was chomping at the bit to receive the promise. “Come on, guys! Let’s go take what belongs to us because God never loses.”

In our current battle I want to think like Caleb. Let’s ask the Lord for our mountain and take out some giants who are defying our God and the destinies of our children. Below is an adapted prayer from Give Him Fifteen, a prayer shared by Rick Ridings, who ministers in Israel. Here’s the encouraging story behind Rick’s original prayer.

“Here in Jerusalem in 2004, after four years of suicide bombings, killing hundreds of innocent victims, we were crying out to God, that he would bring injustice to an end. He revealed that we should pray for the occult shield of protection to be taken away from the main Islamic leader who was calling for the suicide bombings.

“After a dramatic answer to prayer, the voice of that Islamic terrorist leader was silenced. There were no more successful suicide bus bombings after that day.”

Dutch Sheets adapted Rick Riding’s  prayer to address corruption in our land. I have adapted it to the fight against child sex trafficking.

Prayer for Removal of Occult Shields in Child Sex Trafficking

So Lord God Almighty, the Lord of the Armies of Heaven, I thank you for the power of the blood of Yeshua, Jesus, over all witchcraft and occult. We come before You now covered by the blood of Jesus and proclaim to all those seeking to kill, steal, and destroy our children:

“Let the occult shields of protection be taken away from everyone involved in the buying and selling of children. May their occult shields no longer be able to hide them from being exposed by the light and brought to true justice.

“Let witchcraft manipulation be brought to an end in and over all places where children are harmed, sold, and manipulated in the sex trade. Let Your children be brought to a safe harbor.

“As Joshua and Caleb confronted the giants in the promised land, we say to this giant: ‘Your protection is gone. Your protection is gone. Your protection is gone, but the Lord is with us and we will not be afraid.’” (Numbers 14:9)

We proclaim this in the mighty Name of Jesus, Amen.
