When I was a kid I asked the question “why” all the time. I know I drove my teachers crazy. I remember them ignoring my raised hand more than once. But then, why is an important question when it comes to why we do something. Here’s my why for involvement to fight child sex trafficking through organizations like Magnolia Rose.
My ”why“ boils down to one word…liberty. I love to see freedom happen in individual lives. God has given me a promise of many freed captives as we take steps for their release.
Magnolia Rose
Locally, we have an organization that fights human trafficking in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Here’s what they do as a direct service provider.
- Victim identification and screenings for law enforcement and hospitals
- Emergency housing
- Advocacy and case management
- Detox and recovery support
- Therapy and counseling referrals
- Street outreach and on-the-ground rescues
- A drop-in center for at-risk teen girls to seek support and mentorship
- Pathways to healing and recovery to prevent re-victimization
I’m organizing ‘Movin’ in May,’ a fundraiser 5k Run/Walk on May 20, 2023 at 9:00 am. Please check out the registration page. You may donate there or contact me to volunteer to help with the race. Your support is much appreciated.

Since 2020, we have helped more than 100 human trafficking and exploitation survivors and their families in the Shenandoah Valley. We do not charge for our services which allows access to every survivor in need. Magnolia Rose depends on financial support from the community to continue their work.
It’s wonderful to be a part of what God is doing at Magnolia Rose and see the fruit of freedom and answered prayer in precious lives.
