“He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my foot steps firm.” Psalm 40:2 NASB
David’s inspired words echo true to those once enslaved, now set free to progress in their own stories of redemption. Recently, I came across two of these redemption stories, essential work being done through Agape International Missions (AIM) who are expanding their aftercare facilities, a new one in Belize (the first for minors in that country) and a second home of restoration in Cambodia.
AIM’s holistic approach has led to having their own SWAT team that has trained alongside the Cambodian police. The first quarter of this year they were able to rescue 28 survivors and help arrest 6 traffickers. Their legal team then advocates for justice for survivors in the courts. This approach allows for brothels to be shut down, traffickers arrested, and survivors to receive legal aid and restorative care.
As one of the worst red light districts in the world, Svay Pak has been transformed from brothels to a healthy body of Christ, a school, training up the next generation to positively influence their community, and employment centers that give survivors skills for their future.
Now AIM wants to expand their efforts in rural areas of Cambodia, where they will send their SWAT team. Rescued children can be sent to their soon to open second restoration home. The first one is full.
Meanwhile in Belize, AIM’s first restoration home has been purchased and is being resourced for launching. In addition to regular care it includes aftercare for moms and their babies. They will be provided a separate living quarters and someone to support them 24/7 as new moms. Check out the virtual tour of both the Belize facility and the Cambodian home. God is doing a mighty work here. Let’s pray this will be multiplied worldwide.
Prayer
We thank you Lord for your grace that restores broken communities. You are a mighty healer. Let the work that AIM is doing in both Belize and Cambodia become models for justice, education, employment and healing. Let many see your truth above their circumstances and walk afresh in their true identity as your beloved child.
We bind the forces of darkness that would hold back God’s perfect plan. We declare your resources will flow to these homes and there will be no lack. Bring just the right ones to work with the children and teens. Bless them with the unity of your Spirit as expressed in Psalm 133. Over the girls we decree wholeness, peace, and soft hearts to receive the gospel. Let your glory shine in and through each one.
We also send these prayers across the globe, wherever aftercare and restoration is taking place. In Jesus name. Amen.
